Why do MTV Shows like Next and Room Raiders portray Gay Guys as freaks?

Why do these shows constantly portray gay men as stereotypical queens? Most of the gay men on this show are creepy. I thought MTV was more progressive than that. These images are bad for advancing gay rights.

Yeah i know i've seen that! It's because they want really quite flamboyant guys because it makes them look more accepting.

MTV is one of the most stereotyping networks out there. It's made for teens and people in their early twenties, who often have very little or negative ideas towards gays. MTV just does what's popular, not what's correct.

MTV is, first and foremost, entertainment. They cater to the media and the public. Stereotypes are more entertaining to the general public than an individual person. Lesbians are characterized the same way. In all those MTV dating shows, the chick who is the dater is super butch and the datees are super fem. Never anything in between. People like to watch stereotypes because they like to see their beliefs confirmed by a popular network. They don't want to watch something they aren't used to.

Plus, you have to keep in mind that all of the "people" on these shows are characters created by the producers. Everything is scripted and they are all acting virtually 100% of the time. Don't take anything on there too seriously. That network is basically made for mindless 16 year old girls living in SoCal with nothing better to do all day than watch people as mindless as themselves doing things that no one would ever actually do.
MTV is not progressive at all! It feeds in the stereotypes of everyone. Look at the Real World. They make every black cast member look like angry ignorant people, they make the gay men look like gossiping two faced queens, and they make young people look like promiscuous drunks. Horrible network that doesn't even play music until 4 am.
Because they are stupid.

It's because it's recorded in the United States, nowhere else in the world would you only see these 'Americanized' stereotypical gay men. This 'Americanized' toilet humor to get a cheap laugh, only breeds homophobia. It just only proves American MTV is homophobic and there adding to public hate towards all LGBT persons living in the United States. It's ashame the US LGBT rights lobby or US LGBT activist persons doesn't ever start a anti homophobic campaign or protest marches around the USA to stop this homophobia on US television.
Because they are ignorant, and don't consider their feelings.
It's MTV...they put out whatever they think their audience wants most.
